Algarve Winter Events 2022
In summer, the Algarve is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, but in winter, it is quiet, and the weather is so good that you can do a bit of everything. If you have never thought of booking a holiday in the region in winter, we have found you some great reasons to spend a few days of relaxation in Estrela da Luz. These are the winter events in the Algarve in 2022.
Events in the Algarve in November
1. ALUT - Ultra Trail Via Algarviana, 5th Edition
Date: 24 to 27 November | Location: from Sagres to Alcoutim
Start your winter holiday in the Algarve by getting to know the region through sports. Walk 300 kilometres along the Via Algarviana and observe the centuries-old landscapes of extreme beauty along the way. This event in the Algarve starts in Forte do Beliche in Sagres (Cabo de São Vicente), passes through different towns such as Barão de São João and ends in the city of Alcoutim with the award ceremony. 2. Jazz at the Cellars, 6th Edition
Date: from 25 to May 2023 | Location: Silves cellars
The municipality of Silves will host another edition of Jazz nas Adegas, a successful mix of music and wine tasting. The first event will take place on 25 and 26 November at the Quinta do Francês, from 9 pm and 5 pm respectively, with the group Pandeiros in Jazz. This event in the Algarve is an excellent programme for the upcoming festive season and costs € 20.00. This, includes the concerts of each session, the tasting of three wines from the producer and the tasting of three local tapas. The ticket also comes with a voucher for a visit to Silves' castle and museum, as well as, a bottle of wine.

Events in the Algarve in December
3. Walking Festival
Date: 1 to 4 December | Location: Monchique
If you're looking for a peaceful activity in the midst of nature, this is unquestionably the event for you. Monchique is full of colour in the winter, and the mountains are full of magic that deserves to be seen up close. So, there is nothing better than a hike in nature. This Algarve event has been rescheduled after being cancelled in June due to a fire risk. The programme has been renovated to include activities for people of all ages as well as new routes such as Mycological Walks, Geocaching Walks, and Counted Trails. Children can also discover a different side of the Algarve through walks and themed activities.

4. Christmas in Lagos 2022
Date: 1 December to 6 January | Location: various streets of Lagos
Lagos City Council has organized various Christmas activities in the city streets to get you in the mood for Christmas during your holiday in the Algarve. Although this event is only for children, the magic of Christmas also reaches adults. From 3 to 24 December, visit the Christmas Village at Praça do Infante and meet the mythical figure of Santa Claus. In the same space, children can dream while listening to the reading of Christmas stories organized by the Municipal Library. This season, Portas de Portugal Street will also host workshops for face painting, balloon modelling, Nativity figurine crafts, pins, puppets and much more to delight the little ones.

5. Swinging Christmas - Orquestra Ligeira de Lagos
Date: 3 December, 9.30 p.m. | Location: Lagos Cultural Centre
Christmas concerts are held all over the world during the festive season, and in Lagos, the city's orchestra has the task of spreading the magic of Christmas. Marta Rodrigues, Carina Lima, Mara Amaral, and guests Edgar Caramelo (saxophone) and Francisco Nogueira (bass) will perform great Christmas themes. This concert is suitable for all ages 6 and up and costs €10.00.

6. New Year's Eve in Lagos
Date: 31 December to 1 January | Location: Praça do Infante
Why not start the year by the sea and in a festive atmosphere? Book an apartment at Estrela da Luz, gather friends and celebrate 2023. On this special night, there will be partying, music and entertainment all night long on Praça do Infante in the centre of Lagos. The Portuguese band "The Gift" will play the best songs of all time, and at midnight the sky will be bathed in the usual fireworks show of light and colour. Start planning your New Year's Eve as soon as possible.
